Not sure how it happened. My little girl turns 18 today.
As a father, I've always strived to share my values with my girls. I've endeavored to set a consistent example and seize every occasion to teach life-lessons.
Today we celebrate Amanda's 18th birthday. From her earliest days, I have been attempting to build a solid foundation of life's greatest wisdom into her. Take this picture, for instance: This was the day I began to teach her Coke=GOOD! Pepsi=BAD! (Notice the Red Sox shirt I was wearing back in 1992? I took every opportunity, I tell you. Growing up my child--life was your classroom!)
Look at how she lipped that can! Most babies... drool and dribble all that beautiful nectar down their chin, I tell you. Not my baby girl! Perfect form. Head tilted gently back, throat ready. I'll admit, I'm a great teacher. But you can't coach nature into 'em. This kid was a natural.
Amanda ~ I'm very proud of the wonderful (and wise) young woman you've become. I love you VERY MUCH! Happy 18th birthday! How about we celebrate? Let the old man buy you a Coke?

love this dad! a coke sounds awesome! haha you taught me well :) i love you!
