The experiment continues. I spent two good days with Seesmic. I'm wrapping up day two with PeopleBrowsr today, and then plan to try HootSuite and revisit TweetDeck over the rest of this week. I'm also looking for other personal browser candidates if any of you have suggestions to make.
PeopleBrowsr got off to a rough start for me, but has improved with day two. I had issues getting PB to load my Facebook account into a "stack" (their word for a column of feed). It kept telling me there was an error. Quite honestly, I wasted an hour trying to get the thing to work, watching their tutorials and soliciting help from some folks in the know. Being as how this is intended to assist me in saving--not losing--time, I wasn't very happy. I never did figure it out. None of the directions I followed made it work. But then this morning, VOILA! There's my Facebook feed. What? How? Better not to ask?
PeopleBrowsr offers you three platforms to choose from: Lite, Advanced and Business/Professional. One very cool feature is that once you've registered and set up your account, you can easily toggle between the three. I played with the Lite application for a bit. I moved up to Advanced and I like the feel of it a little more. I haven't braved the Business level. No reason to. It took me a bit of time to figure out PB's features. I found it less intuitive than Seesmic in that realm. There is a little techno-geek in me (don't tell anyone, I like them all to think I'm techno-ignorant) and I needed to tap into it to figure out some of PB's features. Didn't come easy.
One of my favorite things is that you can include MySpace and other social network accounts into PeopleBrowsr. The others I've used have all been either Twitter or Twitter/Facebook interface, but this one allows MySpace and many more. I also like that I can easily pick which accounts I want to post from using a drop-down list to choose. I only made one boo-boo post yesterday, and it was careless on my part, not lack in PeopleBrowsr.
But, back to time - for me this is all about saving time. I want to steamline my time involvement with social networking, be informed but not distracted. The jury is still out on PB for me. I have had to give this one a lot of time and attention. Would it get better once the program is more clearly understood on my part? Perhaps. But, do I want to labor through this? Don't know.
I'll give this one the rest of the day before I move on to the next one on the list. I'll keep you informed.
