Last night we offered an advance screening of the movie Fireproof to local ministry leaders and Christ's Church families. The reviews from folks who saw it last night are all very good. The movie will be in selected theatres on September 26th. I am planning to go see it in theatres, and hoping to round up some friends to see it with me. I would say that if you're married... or if you think you might ever be married... or you're divorced... or thinking about divorce... or breathing... or thinking about breathing... it would be a worthwhile way to spend $8.
The film was interesting to me for much of what I learned about it on the film's website. Check it out. Apparently, this film is the work of a church in Albany, GA, who as a congregation, make movies like this. Facing The Giants was their first such effort. Kirk Cameron is the only real actor in this film. The other roles are played by church people and others who believe in these projects.
Music played a huge role in the impact this movie had on me. There are great tunes throughout, and as such the movie's soundtrack would be a worthwhile buy. I discovered a new artist through the movie, a guy by the name of John Waller - sure to become one of my favorites. I'm already scouring the local stores for his debut album.
Again, I recommend the film to you. If you're up for an evening together, in a couple weeks when it comes out, perhaps we can gather a party.

My husband and I saw a pre-screening as well, and we really enjoyed it. It is full of action and is very real; the marriage struggles are very relevant and bold, not fluffy like some movies or degrading to covenant love like others. We went home with a copy of the Love Dare devo book Kirk C. uses in the film, and a "Couple's Kit" (a study for couples to do together at home.) Both have profoundly impacted our marriage, and it's so good to do these together. These are concepts people should learn as a requirement for LIFE. I found the books at www.fireproofresources.com. Hope this helps. Take your spouse or your date and go see it!

Sweet, I'm in. I loved the movie facing the giants, so this will probably be good too!
